A Musical Journey (2001)
2001: Richard Wilson and Bruce Gann On several occasions, I have had the privalege of doing sessions at Ray Brooks' Crystal Recording Studio with Richard Wilson and Bruce Gann. Both are talented songwriters and musicians. We went into the studio in February and March, 2001, to record a 6-minute plus epic called "Hangin' On" and to re-mix some previously recorded tunes with the assistance of engineer Jonathan Parker. Songwriter Jim Pagan was present on this session as well as the one in 2000 when we recorded a song called "Draw the Line." One fine addition to that year's session was Steve Vogler who wailed on a massive Hammond B3 complete with Leslie. In the future, the product of these sessions will hopefully be released locally on CD. Stay tuned for more information. The sessions featured: Bruce Gann - Lead and Background Vocals ~ Richard Wilson - Drums, and concert vibes ~ Jim Pagan - acoustic guitar, flute, and Background Vocals ~ Steve Vogler - Hammond B3 ~ Jai Lambert - Electric Guitars, Electric Bass, and Background Vocals ~ Jonathan Parker - engineer ~ Ray Brooks - engineer, studio owner Click below to listen to streaming MP3s Draw The Line - (6.4 MB) 2000, studio recording. Hangin' On - (5.8 MB) 2001, studio recording.
2001: Randy Burden Extraordinary singer/songwriter/guitarist Randy Burden (PAPERKID, SOUL MERCHANT, THE RANDY BURDEN BAND) added some more tracks to his CD project at Bob Ketchum's studio in them thar hills on the weekend of March 16, 17, 18, 2001. At this time Randy had 11 songs in the can and was scheduled to record 3 more tunes. Please see below for information on the release of Randy's new CD "Lil' Piece of Me." The sessions featured: Randy Burden - Lead and Background Vocals, Electric Guitars ~ Bob Ketchum - Drums, Percussion, Backing Vocals, Engineer ~ Jai Lambert - Electric Bass, Keyboards, Backing Vocals, Lead Guitar on "Never Find Another Woman Like You." Randy's CD kicks butt! It's called "Lil' Piece of Me" and was a real blast to record. All of the music was recorded by Randy, Bob, and Myself. It has a tight, live kind of feel and would be a perfect edition to your music collection. 2001: Gary Grace In 2001, Gary Grace went to Sonny Hunt's fabulous Soundworks Studios in Jonesboro, and created his debut solo CD "Songs For After Dark." More on the CD, which kicks major ass, can be seen on the works page. The sessions featured: Gary Grace - Lead and Background Vocals, Electric Rhythm Guitar, Electric Bass ~ Sonny Hunt - Electric Guitars, Engineer ~ Jai Lambert - Electric Guitars ~ Buzz Fenner - Drums ~ Ken Wadley - Keyboards, Engineer Click below to listen to streaming MP3s I Swear I'm Getting Older - (4.5 MB) 2001, studio recording. Coming After You - (6.9 MB) 2001, studio recording. A World Gone Cold - (6.0 MB) 2001, studio recording.
2001: The Heat In 2001, I had the pleasure of sitting in with one of the new premier bands from Arkansas, THE HEAT at White Water Tavern. What a fun night it was! Gary Grace, who used to play with MEN OF HONOUR, played electric bass and sang lead vocals. The band also featured incredible axman Sonny Hunt and killer drummer Buzz Fenner. The cool thing about the evening was that the band played several songs from the self-titled MEN OF HONOUR album. So when I sat in with the group, we played 3 MEN OF HONOUR tunes, "There's Danger", "All For The Lonely", and "I Swear I'm Getting Older." It was almost like a reunion and it felt good to play the songs after 7 years. See above for information on Gary Grace's solo CD release "Songs For After Dark" or click on the works link.
